As a Wichita native, Dr. Kristen Wellemeyer Sander is proud to help put smiles on the faces of people right in her hometown. After developing an interest in orthodontics while shadowing an orthodontist in Kansas City, Dr. Sander became increasingly more passionate about the field. She continued to learn throughout dental school until it became her dream to provide excellent orthodontic care to patients looking to transform their smiles. 

While at UMKC School of Dentistry, she worked hard to stay at the top of her class and earn a place in her university’s orthodontics residency program. She then practiced in the Kansas City area for four years following graduation from residency in 2015. With a lifelong goal of coming back home to Wichita, Dr. Sander returned to her hometown with her husband John and their children, Michael, Henry and Rosalie.  

Dr. Sander loves how orthodontics can do far more than simply help patients straighten their teeth. Orthodontics can truly transform a patient’s smile in ways that change their lives. She can improve their overall health by influencing the growth and development of the facial bones, improving dental function for day-to-day life and a series of other powerful benefits that come from a bright, beautiful and healthy smile. A healthy smile can brighten someone’s day, and it’s Dr. Sander’s goal to keep Wichita smiling every day.  

When Dr. Sander isn’t in the office, you’ll find her spending quality time with her husband and beautiful children, adventuring in the outdoors or enjoying various activities around the city.
