As opposed to traditional braces, Invisalign gives adult and teenage patients more freedom in their everyday lives. The holiday season is the busiest time of year when our social calendars become filled with parties, social gatherings, and various festive events. This is why Invisalign is such an ideal treatment for this time of year! However, there are a few difficulties that may arise during the holidays that you need to be aware of.

The best thing about Invisalign is that it’s invisible! Invisalign is made of clear plastic, which makes them virtually undetectable in social settings. You also don’t have to worry about breaking  a wire when the orthodontist’s office is closed for the holidays.

Invisalign is also removable, which makes cleaning your teeth and mouth a lot easier.

This is especially important with all the holiday food and beverages that are sweet and sticky. Since it’s such a busy time of year, it’s sometimes hard to make time for the orthodontist. Luckily, Invisalign doesn’t require a lot of maintenance so it keeps your teeth clean. Chances are that you’ll only have one appointment during this hectic time of year instead of two!

You have to make sure to wear your Invisalign for at least 22 hours a day. This can be tricky with all the eating and drinking that comes with celebrating Christmas. It’s important to manage your time, so your Invisalign is doing the job its supposed to! Plan your meals and snacks around whatever holiday party or gathering you’re attending. Avoid appetizers, constant snacking, and grazing. This way you can take your Invisalign out less often, while also keeping your treatment more discreet. Instead, set aside 20 to 30 minutes for a meal. It’s also imperative to make sure you’re keeping your Invisalign trays clean when you place them back on your teeth. You might also plan ahead by shortening your breakfast and lunch times earlier in the day. This creates more time for you to enjoy the holiday foods at your gathering with friends and family!
